2007 Bedrock ‘The Bedrock Heritage’ Sonoma Valley - Blunderbuss ‘r Us

Inky black color. The aromas throw a knockout punch of alcohol backed by a panoply of red and black fruits, and spicy green herbs. I was shocked, shocked to see that the alcohol was merely 15.7%, it’s got the attitude of a big ass Port.
I was even more shocked by the palate. While not polite, the intensity and subtlety of the fruit made a welcome intrusion on the alcohol, with abundant tannins fully resolved and a sparkling smidgen of acidity fighting the good fight. To me this is blatantly overripe, but with the quality of the fruit and careful winemaking keeping it a pleasant beverage. I’d picked it for a chili dinner… a good call.
This is much too hard to rate; your own palate and tolerances could take it anywhere from undrinkable to 95.
