I received a 2006 Philippe Colin Chassagne Rouge from auction today. No vintage year anywhere on the label. Scratched label which left me scratching my head… Is it legit? It just looks incomplete to me…
In short, it looks nothing like any of the images of Philippe Colin labels from the domaine’s website or elsewhere online. Notably, they use a diagonal orientation of the label (like a sash) and it has the vintage embedded (not a neck label that might have fallen off which was my first inclination). The french tax stamp on the foil may suggest a local-market label difference, which does sometimes happen. They no longer list this as a cuvee that they make but here is a listing for two more bottles showing that indeed the vintage was in small font in the damaged area of the label. "They’re from France"Curious find.
