2005 Cameron Abbey Ridge Pinot Noir

I knew this one would be young; however, after a wonderful bottle of the '05 Clos Electrique at the Red Hills Provencial Dinner in April 2008, I couldn’t keep my mits off of this any longer. Tasted last night with a simple dinner of grilled chicken breast, pasta with fresh herbs and tomatoes in EVO and fresh basil – I’ll wait for the movement of this post to the Food & Wine board. A deep dark purple color that opens on the nose with an alluring touch of funk. Initially a bit thin on the mid palatte, this gains considerable weight with a couple of hours of air and the dark fruited flavor profile of black cherry, plums and black berry really come to the forefront. The fine tannins provide an extended finish. I really enjoyed this, as did my wife. It vanished rapidly after the two hour mark. If I can holdout, I’ll wait another 2 - 3 years before cracking the next one.

Love that Cameron pinot… Abbey Ridge, WV, and the Arley’s Leap all make me happy.
