I paid about $18 for this beauty.

2004 Gonon St Joseph

Now starting to shed the fruit forward clothing. The nose still takes coaxing. Very young darker red fruit on the nose and palate. Elegant. Very much like a less powerful and more elegant Hermitage to me. Gorgeous. For the money I paid, it is an absolute steal. Click on the picture for a better look.

Looks dark and scary…

What is the “Mauves” though? Label looks like the regular Saint Joseph.

That is the location in France of the winery. It is in Mauves.

Well yeah, I knew that, but I thought it was a different bottling of theirs. So simply “Saint Joseph”. The Mauves part is redundant.
