2002 Dom Perignon Rose

Anyone had it?

Thoughts?

Great stuff that drinks well now and will be great in 5, 10, 20, and probably 30 years. Pinot Noir was the star of 2002 Champagne and Rose the superstar. An awesome wine that is worth the price and a step up from the blanc 2002 DP.

I had the regular DP last weekend after the Billecart Salmon Rose and the DP tasted tart and almost bitter. Maybe it was just after the sweet and creamy Rose. I hope the DP rose is better than the regular DP. It’s hard to compete with BS for rose.

I had it last weekend at La Paulee - it was delicious, but this was also at the after-party, so it’s not like I was focusing on it intently. I plan to open another one soon.

Thinking about opening one on Sat night…

please do-it might help w/my buying decision.

thanks

Had it with 2 smart guys Monday. All loved. Density of fruit and crispy minerality. Succulent wine. VG

The 2002 Rose was closed at first, then opened up with pink grapefruit and passionfruit on the nose, similar flavors. The fizz was lost pretty fast in these pinot glasses, but that is what is recommended for drinking the rose per their director of education. Crisp minerality, zippy acidity, intriguing flavors if not what I had expected from a rose. Medium bodied, but excellent flavor concentration. Nice finish. Young.

The wine was opened, we drank it, and it was just awesome.

Bought two more bottles!
