2002 Dom Perignon offers

The threads remind me to start this thread.
After missing 96 DP in quantity, I’d like to get a bit of the 02
seeing as there are going to be a few hundred thousand bottles hitting the states,
and I bet a bunch of us are going to want some…

Let’s use this a central repository for offers.

I suspect 100$ may be out there if the communal hunt begins

remember this thread as offers come along

I am hoping Costco sticks to the same or lower price point which is $119 out here.

I would also assume that Costco is still sitting on a bunch of 00 and wonder if they will blow it out to make room for the 02

To bad they don’t sell online anymore…those Dom gift baskets for $49 were my kind of price! Still have 3 left…

Good thread idea.

Responding to this thread so it shows up in my “View your posts” link…

Now that’s a good idea!

Cosco still selling DP for $150 here. :frowning:

Like.

The 2000 for under $100 would be great. 98 & 99 are weak IMO.

Well, if and when you see these markdowns at places like Costco just don’t expect the bottles to show so well when they get opened.

I think that’s as much an exaggeration as people (like Joe Perry) saying DP is overpriced dreck.

I stumbled upon 96 DP at Costco, gas stations and other crazy places back in 2006 for anywhere between $99-115 and they’ve all been great thus far.

Your logic is sound, but it’s definitely an exaggeration to say they wont show or taste well/good.

Is it already released?
In europe?
Is it scheduled for the US soon?
At the right price I would be very interested! [cheers.gif]

Cheers

I didn’t say they won’t show well I said not to expect them to show well.

Personally, I think it’s crazy to buy DP or any other wine from a gas station or the like to save $20-$30. Especially one that has been released not so recently, but to each his own.

Ok Ray, you’re the man when it comes to DP. Where do you buy yours?

Moet pay HIM to drink the stuff.

Ha - I wish, although I will say that whenever I get together with any of the DP folks they have been incredibly generous in opening up great bottles.

Generally I buy the wines from London brokers immediately upon release. Of course if the price is competitive I’d be happy to buy it domestically from retailers who take as much care as possible with the wine.

I’m sure you can find proper bottles in discount clubs, but I’m sure you are also running a very good risk of poor bottles. As you get further and further away from the release date and towards the “closeouts” your risk dramatically increases.

I’ve drunk 36+ bottles of 96 DP and purchased many cases from different sources. I remember buying 8 bottles from a refrigerated cooler in OGB from Total Wine at the bitter end of the release for $89. Every bottle was off/muted/damaged. Pristine bottles from ocbs crush these as to flavor.

Same thing happens with every vintage, best to get these early and store them…and always try a bottle right away from a purchase!

This is why I said on another thread even the ogbs (without ocb) at auction can be dicey because I think there are buyers running around and buying from gas stations and the like…then selling at an acution trying to make a buck or two. OCB with known chain of custody for me please.

WHORE!!!

Weak

I can’t stand Total Wine anymore. They have some of the highest prices and so much crap from Alfio Moriconi Selections. Sorry, had to vent [soap.gif]

hence this thread. better to get this rolling now
