1998 Meo Camuzet Corton-Rognets and Burgundian Style Pinot

At our last Sonoma Burg Team get together, we joked a little about a 1998 Meo Camuzet Corton-Rognets I was thinking of bringing. Burghound put the drinking window at 2018+ in July 2008. Did not bring the wine for that reason.

But got to thinking about it tonight, and that it would not last that long in my cellar, so why not just try it and see what it was like for informational purposes. Sitting with the first glass now, really killed a young wine! It is so shut down, closed, backwards, and extracted, can only get a hint of what it will likely be in the future, which is positive, but in about 10+ years!

As I drink this wine, reflecting on how so many California Pinot producers like to say they make a Burgundian style Pinot. Curious, what would you define as a Burgundian Style Pinot and which California producers do you think actually make the list?
