1995 Domaine Lejeune Pommard 1er Cru Les Rugiens

  • 1995 Domaine Lejeune Pommard 1er Cru Les Rugiens - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Pommard 1er Cru (6/26/2014)
Color: Brickish ruby with a sunrise rim
Smell: It took a good half hour for this to open up. Roses, forest floor, tart red fruits, and aged black puerh tea
Taste: Strawberries, cherries, clove, and mushrooms
Overall: Outstanding! this is in a beautiful spot. Light body, med high acidity, medium fruit, minimal tannin, and a medium long finish. Absolutely lovely…where can I find more of this? IMPORTED BY KERMIT LYNCH

Nice note Kirk! I picked up a few bottles of late 80’s Lejeune Pommards in an auction a couple of years ago. I forgot about them up until about 6 months ago when I popped one - really really nice surprise after hearing about these from a friend. Anyway, I’m going to drink a few more soon so thanks for reminding me .

Yea…this was a steal for what I paid.

Our local shop has Lejeune. What is the winemaking style like?

Had this last night. Showed well!

Opened a 2022 Bourgogne Les Grandes Carelles tonight. I’m just exploring but at $22 retail this is well done.

I used to love this wine, rather unusual in style with its endless red and black fruit but always a glass of pure pleasure. I haven’t seen it for years.
