1994 Tissot, 1990 Lanessan, 2005 Bitouzet Pommard Les Platières and others

Last night (sorry for the poor picture quality):

1994 Jacques Tissot Vin Jaune
We started things off with a glass of cold Vin Jaune. Nice nose, it seemed as complex as many Château Chalon: metallic, strong coffee, dark caramel, walnuts and bright apple. Good acidic frame but not overpowering. The finish is very long on fresh walnuts and coffee. Maybe lacking a little depth on the palate.
We put it aside after one glass and revisited it with 2 different Comtés later in the meal.
Day 2: Did not change. Yeah.

Vilmart Grande Réserve and Comte Senard Bourgogne Blanc Ana. No notes.

2005 Pierre Bitouzet Pommard 1er Cru Les Platières
That bottle was on! Great nose with plenty of red berries, sweet spices and hints of leather and forest floor. The palate is fresh but complex giving a lot of fruit still to go with the tertiary flavors that developed. No hollow point, the palate is consistent from entry to finish. Long finish. It’s in a perfect place right now. Very nice bottle.

1990 Château Lanessan
Funkadelicious. This bottle was very nice indeed. Great complex nose of blackcurrant leaves, smoke, animal funk and red berries. Enough fruit to match the funk on the palate as well, nice acidity and there is still a slight grip on the mostly integrated tannins. The profile stays savoury which was perfect with Saucisse de Morteau and lentils. There is still life in this bottle but i like the fact that the fruit is still noticeable. In a good place for me so I’m gonna drink them up soon.
Day 2: One glass left. Tired and expired. Don’t decant on this one; Pop and pour and let slightly evolve in the glass.

Tonight:

2008 Bouchard Aloxe-Corton: corked.

2015 Vincent Bachelet Maranges 1er Cru La Fussières Vieilles Vignes
Primary on the nose. Red berries on the palate, short, simple, no length. I was surprised it was this thin on a 2015. I didn’t like it.

Awesome on that 1990 Lanessan! Would love to try that!

I had it with non wine geek friends. Both of them loved it but i think the food pairing helped. This vintage is definitely unapologetic: savoury, funky, persistent and just plain good! I’ve got a few other bottles so I’ll confirm if the vintage is holding strong or if this was just a “lucky” bottle.

Based on the last bottle bottle of 1990 Lanessan I had this wine is a bit fragile. No decanting is a good advise.

Thanks for posting. Quite unusual to see a 2015 red tasted thin…

We miss you in Montreal. Quebec, Canada…
