Boy, this wine is in a beautiful place right now. Old enough now to have taken on real character, but young enough to still show real virility.
At 26, it seems middle-aged. First drank with chicken stir-fry, then a variety of cheeses, then solo.
All the richness one would expect of an older auslese, but in spatlese form. Plenty sweet still, but giving way somewhat to petrol and a mildly waxy, honeyed character. Quite viscous and very long, just lingers on the palate. Yet relatively light on its feet.
Most amazingly, I have been finishing off the (recorked nightly) bottle for the past several nights, and the final glass was the best! 95
