1993 Monfortino

I’m feeling indecisive. Open for the holidays or keep it buried in the cellar? Discuss. (Yes, I’m aware of recent reviews.)

Not that it really matters but do you have more than one? I didn’t check the reviews but am guessing it is still closed and maybe opens up after numerous hours or the 2d day?

One 750, and one mag. The mag is definitely for another year. I have a solid stash of other vintages, but nothing old enough to drink, and only these couple from '93.

How about either the '97 or the '00, so earlier drinking vintages? '93 might be a go, if you want to drink a Monfortino, what the hell. Decant, etc. I had the '96 last week, gave it 1 hour of decant time and I was happy to drink it. Yeah, I know, a million times better in 2 more decades, but the cork wanted to come out and the wine wanted to Get In That Glass, Now!!

Don’t let perfect get in the way of good.

Kevin,if you have an overwhelming hankering for a Monfortino…then open in the morning and serve at dinner, yes?I think it will be fine.93 is frequently overlooked and undervalued…and the same goes for Monfortino.

I think I will. I have been drinking '93s all year because I think they are generally in a good spot and, as Bill says, undervalued. Wasn’t sure if Monfortino would be the same.
