1993 Dom. Tempier Bandol La Migoua

1993 Dom. Tempier Bandol La Migoua

Last of a 3-bottle purchase and now all drank within the last 15 years.
Gracefully aged in color showing the class and fine craftsmanship as it approaches the cusp of red-amber-ish.

Ground pepper on brothy layers of perfectly ripened red fruit. Aaah, French baking spice notes. Finishes with a touch of bitter pit within that fine strawberry acidity. Aged Tempier is such a treat.

Thanks for the note. I was looking at my last bottle of '93 Cuvee Speciale last week and almost went for it. This note pushes me over the edge to go back.

Cheers,
fred

Excited to try a 90 of this that is pending fall shipping, thanks for sharing. What would be a good blind or comparison wine to serve alongside?

All I can think of is another Bandol by a different producer.
An aged Beaucastel?

Thanks for the note, Ramon. I’ve got one left - we’ll taste it with a Tourtine when the weather cools a bit.

Had the 99 La Migoua on Sunday with cassoulet. You can’t ask for much more out of a Bandol than it delivered. Drinking just fabulously. In no danger of decline, but I doubt it will get any better.

Definitely.

Even just the straight 2000 Bandol from Tempier was terrific last week with leg of lamb.
