I was able to buy a decent amount of Havens wine (with Michael Havens help) during the liquidation this past fall. Long story short…the liquidator found some cases of older Chard in the warehouse and I basically bought three cases for next to nothing They had a case each of 1985, 1988, 1990 and 1991 mags. I thought that if just one bottle in the lot was good, I was happy because the price was so cheap.
Fast forward to tonight…and I opened the 90 with my wife for Valentines day and man oh man did I hit a home run (with the wine… obviously not with the wife because I’m typing this note). The wine was incredible! It had plenty of fruit left and took on an almost cider like quality. After 10 mins in the glass, the bottle funk blew off and it was pure liquid gold. I’m glad Michael convinced me to take them.
