By far the best mature Ridge Petite Sirah I have enjoyed. Cork was a perfect 10, really firm with the bottom 16th of an inch saturated, rest was brand new! Nose initially was all menthol, all the time but this chilled out over 45 minutes to reveal the full Draper perfume with lots of floral aspects. Color was lighter than one would associate for PS - like a combo of PS & PN color-wise. Mouthfeel was the wine’s only negative as this was a touch on the thin side. Taste included very sour black cherries and dominant darker plums with a nice, non-bitter finish. Tannins persist but are manageable now; would guess these outlive the fruit that is left in this bottle. Really excellent wine and I’m doubtful there are any better examples of 1983 PS out there.
