who are you and what have you done with dr. kelly.

also, gruet rose is pretty good for the price

Hahahaha, alive and well. I tried to get the person to push their budget!

Gruet vote here as well.

Zardetto Prosecco. Crisp, tasty and refreshing. Kinda the anti-champagne for some though.

Zardetto is good. Gruet Rose and Blanc de Noirs are both good. I like Roederer Estate and Scharffenberger from the U.S.

Others you might find in StL with some legwork include Clavelin Cremant de Jura, Bisson Glera (like a top quality Prosecco). Peillot Bugey is likely just over the $20 range, but I would pay it. Gratin and Meyer from the Loire might be around as well. Avinyo Cava. Juve Y Campo Cava. Marques de Gelida Cava. Graham Beck from South Africa.

Argyle is usually a very solid choice.

Agreed. Probably low $20s in StL.

+1 on Roederer Esate.

Roederer Estate and any decent Cremant de Bourgogne -

Gloria Ferrer rose

Pinon Vouvray is very dependable (the extra brut and rose are good too)

The basic Castellroig cava is $12-13 and very good value. On sale you might find the Raventos “de Nit” rose for under $20, I was shocked to find a pink cava that could be described as elegant

Lucien Albrecht Cremant de Alsace (rose or blanc) is decent in the sub-$20 range.

+1 on the Roederer.

Scharffenberger and Roederer.

Piling on for Roederer Estate

Mumm Napa Rose

Tissot Cremant du Jura (especially the Indigene) is excellent, but might be a bit higher than your price range depending on where you but it.

Pinon would be great, but availability not so much. Roederer Estate is, to me, the top domestic in that price range by a long shot. Montbourgeau (sp?) Jura is good too, and right at $20 IIRC. Juve y Camps is quite good as well I think, but again availability is mixed. If you go up just a bit you can get Huet and some entry-level champagnes. I recently bought Deutz NV for $20, but that was a fluke.
