04 St Innocent, 05 August West

  • 2004 St. Innocent Pinot Noir Anden - USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley (6/3/2016)
Wow this has come along wonderfully. Drinking perfect. Best Anden I recall tasting. Clean and expressive. (95 pts.)
  • 2004 St. Innocent Chardonnay Anden - USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley (5/18/2016)
    Oxidized.
  • 2005 August West Pinot Noir Rosella’s Vineyard - USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Lucia Highlands (4/14/2016)
Still very dark purple. Looks young. Some funky aromatics along with saline and earth. The fruit is still very up front. Medium acidity. Finishes on a savory note. Not slipping but I don’t have a guess on where it will go. Good showing from a vineyard that is not one of my favorites. (89 pts.)

Cheers,

Jason

A recent 95 Anden was an excellent aged Willamette Pinot.

Hmmm… 2005?

Enjoying an 08 Momtazi right now, been open a day and it needed it. Showing beautifully right now.

Oops it was an 05.

Thank’s for the info. I pretty much stopped opening 08s. May be time to check back in.

Sounds like your Anden was singing. Just had the 04 7 Springs which was outshone by a more savory 2002 version at the same meal. Seems like no harm holding the 04s, certainly not the 7 Springs.

Good to know. It has been a long time since I have opened one of those. In its youth, it was not my favorite. Time to re-visit.

Popped an 08 Cameron Arley’s the other night and did not regret it to say the least. There’s no rush at all but not closed for sure.

Well, the St. Innocent Momtazi 08 was quite primary on night 1 from 375ml. I had a small glass and froze the rest until the next night, when it was singing. So, it’s early maturity now, but no more. Still, very promising and if some complexity develops, wow.

I think this was the first time I preferred the Anden to the 7 Springs. I think the older vines just need more time.
