'03 Cameron Clos Electrique Pinot Noir - This JP Cameron Dude may be on to something

New Thursday event in which my wife chooses what to drink and I agree that she has exquisite taste in all things. Her first selection was the elesuive beast known as the '03 Cameron Clos Electrique Pinot. She is wise.

STUNNER ALERT. While the '03 Oregon vintage was a tricky one for some, JP knew exactly how to handle the heat and minor drought that year…because he is JP and knows things that others don’t. Vintage notes aside, the nose on this was classic Clos Electrique but almost to the point of being on steroids. Clearly needed time in the decanter to help it stretch out after roughly 2 decades of being cooped up in the bottle. 30 minutes later the Cameron funk had mostly given way to one of the more hedonistic CE’s I’ve had in many years. This is amplified to level 12 in terms of the high toned red fruits, fresh cut orange zest, flowers and sois boi. So fresh, so clean, so GOD DAMN DELICIOUS. Somm lost his mind when he tried this…he was still muterring about finding the right descriptors when we left an hour later.

Find this. Drink this. Share this. This is truth.

Beautiful wines, especially with some age. I cracked a '13 Clos Electrique blanc in October that was fantastic.

Exquisite taste indeed. My buying started in 04. Sounds like the 03 warmth was deftly managed. Nice note.

I’ve had 2010 Abbey Ridge Pinot twice in the last three months, and both were superb.
