best wine decanters for double decanting?

so tonight i broke one of my 2 wine decanters… It is fairly inexpensive, but i am now wondering if there is something similar and better. The link below is what i broke. Any other good decanters for double decanting that you can recommend?

for double decanting use a pitcher! anything big enough to hold a bottle of wine that also has a handle and spout. easy peasy.

I pour it into a decanter and then back into the bottle.

Or you can just pour it into a blender and give it a few zip zips.

Zalto Mystique is the best decanter out there- it’s a bit pricey ($140), but worth it…

I use any normal decanter for double decanting without issue, which I suspect is what most people here do. Easier than it looks.

My favorite decanter is a 1L Pyrex Ehrlenmeyer flask. Mine cost about $12. I use it for double decanting with a rabbit funnel all the time.

In my experience, for pouring back into the bottle, anything this shape:

Is vastly superior to anything this shape:

I use a 1L lab glass beaker. More surface area, you know. Hard to break

I’ve never seen a decanter like that in the OP. Do you really stand the bottle upside down in it? Not great for sediment

Here’s an area I wouldn’t spend a lot on unless you like very ‘fancy’ table or having nothing else to spend your $ on. Spend that $ on stems or wine, not decanters. I have several of the wide bottomed decanters wheich I never use any longer. I picked up 6 knock-off decanters of the style Mark lists 1st above for $12 each when a local housewares chain was having an out of biz sale a few years ago. They pour well are easy to clean and take up less space on a table if using more than 1 at a time.

You don’t really need a decanter specifically for double decanting. Just grab any decanter you fancy and use a funnel to pour it back in the bottle. The effect is the same.

Plenty of great ones out there in every price range. I hear good thinks about the Grassl and Zalto ones. I use the Riedel decanters that Mark E linked to because I like their small footprint.

The decanter doesn’t really matter. I use a funnel to help me pour back into the empty bottle after rinsing it with water. If I don’t have a funnel, then it’s easier to have a decanter with a thin rim or a spout. As suggested above, a pitcher works in a pinch.

I do like the Riedel Bravissimo decanter I bought for $13.99 on sale about 18 months ago, which has a pretty thin rim. I should have bought a couple.

This, for crying out loud. For double decanting I might just pick and rinse an empty mineral water bottle and use it with a funnel. Buying a specific decanter specifically for double decanting sounds the dumbest thing ever.

Purely for Double decant - I use a glass measuring cup most of the time. Easier to wash vs delicate decanters.

Fwiw I have that exact same item as the OP. I never use the double decant tool part. I just use the glass container as a regular decanter.

It’s kind of fascinating how few people actually read/understood the OP.

1L pyrex erlenmeyer for any and all decanting. using anything beyond this is just laughable. $22 on amazon.
if you need bigger for a mag, get a 2L.

This is the best decanter in the world. Quality quality glass, 20% of the price of others.

Make sure you get the heavy duty rim. 2L give great wide surface area and can hold mags

I use a 4C Pyrex measuring cup.

No one has one of these https://www.amazon.com/Breville-Sommelier-BWD600SIL-Electric-Hyper-Speed/dp/B079TCKXRH

Never seen that. I guess the upside to it is you don’t need a funnel. Downside is you get all the sediment churned up and when it’s inverted with the empty bottle on the bottom it must be incredibly unstable. I see why you broke one.

I pour the wine into simple decanter being careful with the sediment using a flashlight. Rinse the bottle to get the funk off the sides, let it drain dry upside down for 5 minutes, then pour via a funnel back into the bottle.
