I know, is there really any need for the “best”? But, what the hell.

Toss up between Roussane and Viognier. Not a Riesling fan and chard is dead at retail.

Edit
Just realized Roussane is not a noble grape, so is I will sub in chenin Blanc.

Sip a really good 1976 Beerenauslese and tell me you’d rather have that thin acidic French stuff… [wink.gif]

Let me know when and where we can meet up and you can let me sample some.

That chenin blanc tho

Chenin blanc ! So versatile with many different styles possible that match up well with all kinds of foods. Chardonnay is my second choice but I think a really good wine from this grape is difficult to make…hence so much in the marketplace that is forgettable.

Personal choice - Riesling

The World’s obvious choice - Chardonnay from Burgundy.

Sauvignon Blanc & Semillon, with a little help from Botrytis

So, it’s the Noble Rot that makes them noble, right?

How about Petit Manseng?

Trebbiano d’Abruzzo!

I don’t ask this to quibble, but just actually curious – what does “most noble” mean? Just what you think is the best one? Or does it mean something slightly different?

Just playing with words.

Is it wrong that I voted for myself and 2 dead relatives? [wink.gif]

sip a really good 75er Spätlese…

Yes, 1975 and 1976 were the wonder years.

Riesling. To me, it has a broader range of flavors and aromas than Chardonnay or Chenin Blanc, and can achieve
greatness in a variety of styles.

Same, and that last note is why for me as well. Totally agree.

Riesling is up there. From dry to sweet but truly great examples only come from a small number of places, which isn’t a criticism, just an observation.

Chardonnay from Macon to Champagne to around the world, too many great sites to mention. Obviously sparkling and table wine.

A tough choice. If pushed, riesling. Maybe.

Chenin for bronze medal.

If I could pick only one white to live with?? I’d probably pick Riesling.
