2014 Desire Lines, Syrah, Eaglepoint Ranch, The Gift - Deep magenta color. Cool, deep blackberry nose, lots of black pepper, with light meat and bacon notes. Structured, lightly rustic, cool blackberry fruit, again with lots of spicy black pepper, smoke, and meat/bacon notes. Delicious, with real Syrah character, and really reminds me of a high-quality Northern Rhone, maybe Saint-Joseph. While a late release, this still needs another 5-10 years in the cellar. One of the best young CA Syrahs I’ve had in years. Approx…91-93, maybe even better with age?
