Top 10 Burg Producers In Your Cellar

Would have been better stated that I’m now in the hunt for better value producers. I can’t say that I’ve found great replacements for guy like Mugnier and Rousseau but, I am finding great Chablis producers like JP Grossot and Garnier to replace Dauvissat. I’m really enjoying exploring 1er Cru and AOC Chablis from producers I’ve never heard of before. The quality of AOC and 1er Cru Chablis is very impressive for the pricing. Its fun to see what others are holding to see what producers I’ve been overlooking.

Carillon ~ 30%
Hudelot Noellat ~ 13%
Rousseau ~ 7%
and then a cluster of around 5% each: H Boillot, Sauzet, Roulot, Fevre, below that pretty much meaningless to distinguish.
68% white to 32% red

I’ll soon be switching it “your top 7”.

Dauvissat
Bertheau
Fevre
Billaud-Simon
Jadot
Louis Michel
Faiveley
Hudelot-Noellat
C Dugat
C Moreau/Dugat-Py tie

Thread-drift: How many people have more white than red?

Domaine Pavelot (Jean-Marc et Hugues)
Henri Jouan
Cecile Tremblay
Domaine Robert Chevillon
Jean et Gilles LaFouge
Simon Bize
Domaine Fourrier
Domaine des Lambrays
Domaine Denis Bachelet

I wish I did. I’m really enjoying them now as I find them more aromatic and interesting.

Comte Armand 7,4% (9,9% if Leroux is added)
Louis Jadot 5,3%
Denis Mortet 4,2%
Hudelot-Noellat 3,7%
Comtes Lafon 3,5%

Cathiard 3,5%
Montille 3,2%

Grivot

Rousseau 5%
Jadot 5%

Arnoux 4%
Fourrier 4%

So the top 10 guys = 45% of my burgs. The 2nd 10 guys = 20%. The 3rd 10 guys = 12%. The remaining 58 = 23%.

I love white Burgundy, but I cannot imagine having more whites than red, esp. in today’s world. Most of my reds will age a long time and so I have a lot of reds to age and hopefully drink when the wines are mature. With whites, I am nervous about the ones I have and sometimes think I should only buy enough to drink over the next year or two and should have less in the cellar (does not mean I should drink less, just buy for immediate consumption).

I was not questioning your decision, just asking who you are buying. For me, the best value producers I have been buying have been Chandon de Briailles, Dublere and Jadot.

I should have added that the top two are the top by a very big margin, then the rest of the list are really bunched fairly closely together.

PYCM 7%
Faiveley 6.5%
Mugneret-Gibourg 5.2%
Jadot 4.9%
Hudelot-Noellat 4.2%
Fourrier 2.9%
Drouhin 2.8%
Bouchard 2.5%
Herve Murat 2.3%
Roche de Bellene 2.3%

Huge range of producers (nearly 90!!!) account for the other 60%.

Jadot

Four way tie with de Vogue, Meo Camuzet, Mugnier, Rousseau 29

every white i’ve had from this producer has been impressive.

really interesting to see the variety of lists on this thread.

Domaine Dujac
Joseph Drouhin
Domaine Georges Mugneret/Mugneret-Gibourg
Domaine Fourrier
Louis Jadot
Joh. Jos. Prüm
Nicolas Potel
Faiveley
Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier
Domaine Jean-Louis Chave
Domaine G. Roumier / Christophe Roumier

Fevre
Jadot
Bertheau
Pavelot
Faiveley
Drouhin
Chandon de Briailles
Camus-Bruchon
Bouchard

Drouhin is number one by a large margin. Anyone else is less than a case total. I think Fourrier is number two.

Early on I had more white for sure and have always been a huge white fan. When I realized how long it takes most red Burgs to show their stuff I started backfilling reds even more. Right now I have 260 reds and 141 whites.
