SF Bay Area/Peninsula - January 25

I could almost certainly make the 18th or 25th, with a slight preference for the 25th.

Alan – you should get a DVR! Your wine drinking life needs that flexibility .

Gentleman,

I just move to San Jose from Huntington Beach and I would be interested in joining. I’m free either the 18th or the 25th.

Awesome!
Welcome Phil!

Let’s put down Jan 25 (sorry Alan).
Sounds like this might work for most.
We can change if there is major shift in the Force.

Just wrote to Moira asking for a reservation on the 25th.

Damn, a guy who actually can land his helicopter at a winery! Welcome Phil.

Got space for me?

Of course Vamsi!

Ok, started a running list.

Did we discuss a theme at the last one?
I don’t remember.

Let me know if I need to add anyone or if I left you off.

The Notorious P.A.U.L. B. has advised he’s ready to uncork the SQN with us on 1/25. Kindly add him to the list of prospective attendees.

I guess I’m in, then.

Theme? Here are some ideas:

  • it’s 2016 … 2006 10 year retrospective
  • it’s 2016 … 2006 10 year retrospective on white/red burg
  • it’s 2016 … 2006 10 year retrospective on California
  • it’s 2016 … 20 year look at the 1996’s
  • 5 years later - what’s good from 2011?
  • Pauillac
  • Loire valley red/white
  • deep dive on a single producer (I think these are fun but hard to find one we all have in our cellars. Eg. Littorai)
  • good old fashioned peninsula free-for-all

We stopped by last night for a cocktail; all set for the 25th at 6:30pm. Don’t forget your stems.

I may have a Chave blanc to bring. Need to check.

A '96 free-for-all would be good. Then we could take a semi-logical, semi-coherent progression through the various wines.

Paul’s wine is SQN Stock (2012 Syrah).

Please, please, don’t doom a Chave to being corked neener

Yeah, so good luck with this theme thing. It’s been tried before, but this herd of cats won’t play pileon

I do like the 10 year idea, I’ll try to find a 2006 bottle.

Since Dan brought his last corked wine, you’ve brought three California monstrosities. Just sayin’.

Objection! Didn’t I bring something Austrian to the Sushi dinner? Don’t remember what I brought to the last Menlo dinner, but I’m pretty sure it wasn’t a monstrosity. All these dinners and lunches run together…

No worries Craig.
I think Alan is just trying to be helpful.
So being a team player, I will save us the agony and won’t bring it. [oops.gif]
