I think old-world includes Italian/German, etc… not just French. Big Balla theme would allow people to bring Californian wines, essentially.

I’m good with either theme… I owe Craig a Peter Michael Les Pavots that would fit nicely into the big-balla theme though and not the old world red/whites, so I guess I’m voting for that.

Apparently, the 2007 Roulot Meursault Les Meix Chavaux that I will be contributing will fit into either category, so I’m good with either. I guess, however, that I will vote for #1, primarily because I’ll be tasting so much California wine on this trip with the winery visits that it would be nice to balance it off with other stuff

I also commit to bringing a 2011 halfsie of La Tour Blanche for dessert.

Mike

I vote for theme 1 (old world red & whites).

Me too, old world.

I am good with 1.

Looks like its theme 1, old world red and whites. Ashish is correct, old world does not necessarily mean French only.

Those who have not yet responded, including those on the wait list, please reply by today as we are trying to make a final decision on the head count and the menu.

Consider me in if we have flexible food options then. Sorry to make it so complicated.

a) I’d love to catch up with you again, Paul, it’s been too long!

b) if we do end up with a set menu, just note that I can’t have:

shellfish (except scallops are OK)
mushrooms
corn
should stay away from most nuts and gassy veggies

anything else should work. Sorry also to add complication.

M.

If there’s room for a late-comer, I’m in. But if that doesn’t work, I will see you at the next one. Either theme is fine, as is everything on the menu – mild preference for Clarabelle over Thumper, should that vote mean anything.

Anyway, the simplest thing to do I think is just to go with 8 people for this particular offline. Sorry wait listers, I know you guys know that I give a lot of effort to organize these events and include everyone but this one is just too tricky to pull off if we go more than 8. Let’s do a bigger one for June at a different venue so that menu choices will be more flexible for larger groups.

I have no problem ordering more seafood than meat in our family style dinner. It’s been too long, Paul!

This might be the wrong group for you, then.

I said most. Those that are, erm, easily digestible are just fine. Your concern is so much appreciated.

Looking forward to seeing all who can attend.

BTW, though I haven’t put anything up yet, I am very potentially available for lunch that day as well if people wanted to do something for that. This’ll be my only available day for SF on this trip.

Mike

So I just informed Zazie that we will be doing a la carte, and that we will be a party of 8. Corkage is $15 per bottle since the free corkage offer was only valid with the fixed menu. However this allows people to order what they want, and how much they want to eat. Time is 7:30pm on May 18. Strongly recommend that you bring your own glassware and to also bring cash.

For those with off-site storage (like me), it might be good to start knowing what people plan to bring. No need for the exact bottle, but something descriptive like Loire White, Red Burgundy, Sauternes, Barolo, etc. will be enough. This way we can maybe have a balanced wine dinner instead of inadvertently almost everyone bringing Red Bordeaux (NTTAWT).

I’ll probably bring a 2008 Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières

Ooohhh, I could bring myself to sample some of that, Paul!

For everyone, particularly those who can’t make dinner/wait list personnel, see here:

I’ll probably bring a 1998 Domaine Maume Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Lavaux St. Jacques

Oh—if I could ask someone to tote a couple stems for me, it would be very much appreciated.

Off to a rocking start the 1st two days. Santa Barbara today and then a “break” in Yosemite for 2 days.

Mike

I always bring six glasses, so I’m happy to share.

One week till offline, anyone know what the plan to bring?
