Delectable/Vivino (wine apps) discussion - merged thread

Use it regularly as well. All of the above plus:

  • Helps ensure I don’t miss anything when I update consumed bottles in Cellartracker
  • Helps me keep track of what I tasted at large events

Great app for me.

I use it mostly to see what I’m missing out on when I skip a Domaine DC Saturday. But now it’s an everyday occurrence. Won’t ever reace CellarTracker notes of course, but fun.

Seems they just keep improving it…really have had fun with it.

And, out of nowhere, they sent me an e-mail stating they believe I’m a, “Wine Pro”. Got verified last week…nice little perk to see they are paying attention.

I love Delectable, there are some great wine personalities/pros to follow via the app, it’s definitely on the wine porn side of things sometimes. Also though, it helps me remember bottles I’ve opened on those blow out evenings.

I may begin using it more in the coming months, possibly with a Delectable Pick that goes out at the same time as Subscribers see it.

just learned about this app.

I just got into Delectable a few weeks ago. Pretty fun to see what everyone is drinking.

I have been recommending it(Delectable) to many of my customers. If Parr has some kind of tie-in with it, I would be reluctant to recommend it going forward. Does anyone know of his relationship with it?

Biggest problem with Delectable right now (beyond my poor texting smartphone skills) is the inability to edit a wine once submitted. At least as far as I can tell…

still rather use instagram. Easier to search/follow. Only thing it doesn’t do, that delectable does is read the label and post what you’re drinking.

You can now “edit your rating” (I think this is new) and there’s a button to “flag wine as incorrect”… it’s a little hard to find at first – both choices are behind a button to the right “like” and “comment” buttons (you’ll see three dots… press on that and a menu of choices will pop up). In the past, when they just had the flag as incorrect functionality, i found their team to be super responsive (like within a handful of minutes or so, I’d see it was corrected).

Love Delectable. Wine recognition engine is superb, and I’ve even bought a bottle or two directly through them based on friends recs and service was good. Would be nice if there were channels (“Somms” vs “friends” etc).

Also, a few folks are drinking and touting wines that they sell, which is sketchy. And some of the featured guys are just drinking “screw you” wines - I like McInerney’s comments but my Delectable page is filled with high end, vintage white burg and 1st growth Bdx I’ll never buy nor drink.

I have been using the App for a few months and I like it. Others thoughts on use, interests, etc.?

It’s good but the prior versions were actually better. Last few updates have, IMO, detracted from UX and made it less fun to use and harder to navigate.

The search function is your friend!!!

We have a search function?

Well, Vivino probably just took the lead here, with a gigantic $25million investment. Wow. That, coupled with CT’s data probably puts them on top of the app-league. Incredible that $37million has been poured into Vivino alone. That’s $37million more than venture capitalists invested in WB!

Interesting to see what if any conflicts arise from the investment coming from Moet Hennessy.
