Jay, in honor of Mark attending your event, I will bring something that you like ie fruit bomb. Anything will be better than a corked wine.
Maybe a 09 Rhys Pinot Noir Alpine Vineyard.
Based on your tasting note on the regular Sojourn Pinot, I’ll bring a 09 Sojourn Pinot Noir Ridgetop Vineyard to Berserkerfest 7.0. This has some age on it, and is a fuller-bodied pinot that does deliver what you like.
Train schedule from Grand Central Terminal on 42nd Street to White Plains. The express train takes 34 or 36 minutes. Fares are $8.50 one-way. Buy your ticket at the booth or at the ticket machine. Do not buy on board the train. It’s a steep premimum, and cash only.
I just had a food brainstorm. As some of you may have read in the past, I am pizza challenged. I can cook almost anything very well, but I cannot make pizza. We even have a verb in my family, “to Stromboli,” which is my son’s description of what dad does when he gives up trying to make a round flat pizza and rolls it up into Stromboli. So how about this? I will get a new pizza stone (my old one had an unfortunate meeting with concrete) and we will make assorted pizzas. I can get the BGE up to at least 600 degrees and I have a metal pizza peel. Maybe my weakness is in making the dough, which could ruin the entire plan, but if someone can give me directions on how to make a good pizza dough, you can all just bring your favorite fixings and we can make pizzas galore to go with the brisket and pulled pork and (maybe) Salil’s famous jerk chicken. Yes, I can make the yeast dough and I know how to knead it, so that shouldn’t be a big problem.
I happily volunteer to be a pizza maker and since the pool will be open this is a reminder to all to bring your bathing suits! Or at least bring drip-dry clothing that you can change into when the need to cool off becomes inevitable.
Diane it would be terrific to meet up with you again. I will post, before end of weekend, the specifics to make a faster connection from LIRR to GCT (which basically is transfering to the # 7 train while still in Queens getting you to the Metro North trains much quicker). No need to go all the way to Penn Station.

Best laid plans … Looks like the #7 train is scheduled for weekend repairs this month so the shortcut I suggested, for now, is not viable. It might change as we get closer to the date, and I’ll post updates and any other possible mass transit shortcut, should it exist.
