2009 Magnien Gevrey 1er Cru ‘Cazetiers’

Quite dark ruby, no bricking. The aromas are unusually rich, featuring black fruit, cherry and raspberry, along with notes of black pepper, minerals and hardwood forest. The palate is powerful, with fresh acidity and brawny tannins that have just started to resolve. This is in a beautiful place, but will probably improve for another 5 years. Rated 93.5, up to 2 points of improvement likely.

Hi Dan,
Which Magnien is this, please? Henri, Michel, Fredric, Stephane? Of them all, I know for sure only Henri makes a Cazetiers. In any case, thanks for the note, as I have some other vintages. I’m surprised you find them so powerful/brawny–made me think Fredric initially–but I guess it is Gevrey.

Hi, sorry for the confusion. Frederic it is. I’ve had few if any wines from this producer before, but found the power typical for the vineyard.
