Raised in Bezerkly by a dad with a thirst for bordeaux futures. As a kid I watched him separate labels from his favorites in hot water and paste them to his cellar door. The artistry of food and wine was in my veins at birth. I cooked at the Fourth Street Grill on 4th when it was only warehouses and a giant fish-fryer called Spengers. Studied ancient history and if it weren’t for the internet, would have been a cab-diving intellectual or chef (there was a little PTSD in reading Kitchen Confidential). Had a long stint with big alcohol and sugar bombs and have migrated towards low-intervention wines, largely from the Sonoma coast, north and various ‘gaps’ that see strong inland surges of coastal fog. I like to know the person behind the wine and who farms the grapes. My current passion is working to elevate the conversation and local community aroun wine in my area, and part of this is through an event I produce called ‘Unfiltered Conversations About Wine’ in Berkeley. I spend as much time as I can floating down the Russian River on weekends, drinking and cooking with friends, old and new. If you’re in the Bay Area, drop a line and let’s raise a glass in person.
