I received this in an email this morning from Stephen, the owner:
I just wanted to take a moment to acknowledge this and to inform you that after 17 years this Sunday Zoë will be closing its doors. Times have changed and with only a short time remaining on our lease an opportunity arose allowing us to bow out gracefully.

Too bad. After about 8 CLONYC/SLONYC offlines there, I will miss it. Although Dans scallops were limp last time, I think there was much good still offered. The service was always amazing for us.

They had a great run. I had some fun meals there in the 90’s when it was the hip, hot place, including a 5yr college reunion dinner. I don’t understand why landlords prefer vacancies to low-rent leases in this economy.

That sucks, but after dining there with Pobega and others a few times, I cannot say that I am surprised. The place was generally pretty empty.

Limp scallops…Cheryl had the same problem, FYI.
