y - they are actually surprisingly resilient. I won the white wine version last year through Menu for Hope, and am just waiting for the right time to grab the Burgs.
I love the Zalto glasses though I have never had one of their champagne stems. I used to use the Riedel Vinium Extremes but you could not look at them without them breaking. The Zaltos were double the price but last way longer than the price differential
I think the strength has to do with the fact that the bowl and stem are one piece, rather than a bowl attached to a stem. They are REALLY thin, but we’ve clanked them around with no breaks so far…but now I’ve gone and jinxed myself and will probably break them all over the holidays.
I have the Zalto Champagne stems and while I absolutely love them because of their performance I am always fearful that the stem is going to snap in my hands. Fortunately this has not happened yet, but I do find myself being extra careful with them.
I break wine glasses as a hobby (well, maybe it just seems that way) and I haven’t done it with my Zaltos yet. I’ve gone through an entire set of Tritan titanium crystal glasses but not the Zalto. Their air of fragility is deceptive.
My favorite Champagne glass by a hair over the Riedel Sommelier. They really are not as fragile as they look. They are lead free so while they are thin, they still are tough to break. I’ve dropped 'em and they bounce back quite nicely.
