2001 Arcadian “Sleepy Hollow” PN
Lipid light/medium red with definite onion skin tones.
Rich nose of spice, forest floor and root beer.
Firm, complex, refined spicy fruit featuring “Nibs Licorice”, morels and brown sugar with a long cherry pit finish.
Balanced in every way with good remaining acid.
Nice secondary development and another triumph for Joe!
A great food wine.
NOBODY does better with Sleepy than Arcadian!

Thanks for the note. I love that Joe includes these wines with age in the club shipments. Sounds like it is in a really good place so I may have to open a bottle.
I had the good fortune to have consumed the 01 Garys, 02 Pisoni and this wine over the past several months. Each of these wines are prime-time players at this point, with no end in sight.
I would rate them in the order listed, but you can’t go wrong with any of these.
I discovered Arcadian with the 1999 Sleepy Hollow PN, and then joined the club and bought a bunch of the 2001. Drank my bottles from that purchase and kept adding through the years. It’s been fascinating to follow the evolution and I still have 1 bottle left.
You are on an Arcadian roll lately, Paul. Nice to see your notes. I have one bottle of the 01 Gary’s left but nearly a case of the 01 Sleepy Hollow. I totally agree with your praises of Arcadian in general and this 01 Sleepy in particular. Just a phenomenal bottle. I’ll have to open a bottle or two of Arcadian this weekend.
I, too, had this wine recently, and although very nice, I did not care for it as much as the 2001 Gary’s. Your descriptors are leaving me wondering if we had the same wine, but indeed we did. In general I don’t rate wines numerically, but your 95 points would be quite high for that wine in my mind.
This is a great wine, thanks for the reminder Paul.
Haven’t had it in a couple of years, but my bottles were really special around age 10.
Coincidentally, one of my best ever restaurant wine lists finds was finding this at a now-defunct restaurant in Sandy Hook, CT for $65 a couple years ago.
Great wine. Now I’m thinking I need to track down more.
I’ve had this a bunch of times and always had it in the “nice, has potential” category - it migrated into the “Yowsa!” category about a year or two ago. I am down to my last two and hope subsequent vintages turn out as good.
Had a bottle of this wine back in December. I thought it showed more youthful than a bottle I had two years prior to that. Happy to have more laying down.
Done the same and rate them the same. The o1 Gary’s was a game changer for me. I was actually afraid to cAll up and buy more. Afraid if I started drinking that on a More regular basis, none of my other wines would compare any longer.
