I agree with your premise and your ultimate conclusion, not so sure about the in-between part. Wines that blow me away are an emotional experience. My analytic bent comes in when trying to describe them, but there are no words that can truly do justice to a 1989 Petrus or Haut Brion.
Said in the tone of John McLaughlin at a not particularly contentious moment of the McLaughlin Group: “This is the correct answer.”
In a similar tone but at a slightly more contentious moment: 1907: d’Oliveiras Malvasia.
