Your Favorite Champagnes 2010

Peter - Clouet’s 1911 is very far from four-square. But there is bottle variation out there.

Wow, you must have a key to the back door in my cellar, I had every one of these this past year, and I would agree entirely. The Clouet 1911 is a really fun wine also. And just had Cedric last weekend, so nice, and what a pain to locate.

You like these better than '73 Dom Ruinart?

Good call, forgot all about some of those gems. What year was the Clicquot Rose, 73 as well?

I’m a sucker for a well-aged Champagne, wish I owned some - in time, I guess.

85 DP for sure.

Rose of the year- 82 Louis Roederer Rose out of mag- Thanks KA!

Frank - I was referring to their Brut Reserve, but I also am not enamored with the 1911 either.

I’ve really been impressed with the Marie-Noelle Ledru Champagne Grand Cru. Not at the top end but very attractive.

1911 has a bit of batch to batch variation. We’ve tasted different bottlings side by side with very mixed results.

Brut Reserve also has some variation, but I think it’s the style of the wine, tastes a bit commercial to me. (I do sell both wines too).

There are Some four squre bottles of the reserve , maybe 10% bottle variation, but this has been a great bottle with sushi and at the dinner table and has pretty much replaced white burgs this year for me not counting Chablis.

Yeah that’s another way to put it. I’d rather have NV Bollinger than the Clouet Brut Reserve, of course you can almost get two Clouet’s for one Bolly these days.

So far! neener

I like the Bouchard wines but they aren’t in my upper tier of Champagnes. Time will tell how they do with age.

1996 Henriot Champagne Brut Millésimé - France, Champagne (11/25/2010)
Dark gold. Intense nose of apple, chalk, lemon and candied fruits. On the palate chalk, minerals, orange peel, lemon and candied apricots. Medium to lengthy finish this has it all. A wonderful Champagne and the best I have tasted in 2010. (94 points)

Cedric Bouchard Inflorescence “La Parcelle” Champagne (I liked this better than the Roses de Jeanne, and I am a big fan of the Roses de Jeanne)
1996 Krug

Ok just restricting it to full bottles, and not including anything I’ve only had a glass of… this is what’s really impressed me this year. It’s been a good one on the Champagne front, though not enough old bottles!

Roger, I know we had at least a Salon and the 90 DP together, the Champagnes and wine I have with you are usually top wines of the year every time. You’ve seen my mass of NV and lack of vintage.
