You may want to consider buying your 2013 Napa favorites soon

Wasn’t this $125 until recently? I used to buy this wine, and larkmead for that matter!

It was a BPWines offer.

But their prices are usually pretty good (taking into consideration those that actually ship to Texas) I didn’t shop it but assumed 189 was about the going rate, which I think is a significant increase.

The majority of my favorite Napa wineries have already offered their 2013s and while there was one price increase of note it wasn’t too extreme.

I’d be more worried about increased pricing when the 2014s are released.

Regardless, if you already play in the $300-$500 per bottle game what’s another $50 per?

Exactly the point of the thread… Only this was last year’s impact. RP hung a 99+ on this wine. Historically, scores were mid 90’s and one near perfect/perfect and price gaps higher.

I bought some Ridge Zin 2013 at the exact same price that I paid for 2012 and 2011 and only $2.99 more than I paid for 2010. Hmm, a sensible winery.

PS. Not sure how Ridge is pricing the Estate Cab, but the 2012 cost me about the same as the 2011 and 2010, give or take a couple.

It is and it is.

I started this thread to give a head’s up before Parker releases this Friday but Vinous may have jumped the shark by releasing Napa 2013 earlier in the same week.

Great praise- “the 2013 Napa Cabernets are some of the most profound, riveting, young wines I have tasted anywhere in the world.” Also thinks it is one of the all-time best vintages. It is a huge report with alot of good producer info and seemingly many of the new players.

Togni received a 3 digit which is well deserved imo given quality and ageability. I am not sure I have ever seen an over the hill Togni…

How did Bevan and Realm do?

Somewhat surprised with the Realm scores. Tasted a few weeks ago and most were amazing to my palate.

Vinous scores:
Tempest - 90
Falstaff - 92
Bard - 93
Farrella - 95
Houyi - 95
Tokalon - 91
Dr Crane - 96
Absurd - 95

Interesting on To Kalon score. He raved about it at initial taste in Dec 2014 and now craps on it.

Vinous score means absolutly ZERO. Same with the Wine Spectator. Laube lost his palate long ago.

Let’s be honest, the only one that really counts is Parker. I’ll bet all these Realm scores jump at least 3-4 points right off the bat.

Just saying…

Key word!

Never know what you’re going to get from Antonio. I tasted the 2013 Myriad Dr Crane Elysian the other day and was blown away by the finesse it showed especially in comparison to the power of the Carter Wines. Brilliant structure and balance. One of my all time favorite Mike Smith wines. The scores left me scratching my head.
Dr. Crane Elysian 93
Dr. Crane 92

Carter Las Piedras 94
Quivet Las Piedras 87
Same vineyard, same clones, same winemaker, same vintage… The disparity is striking. Scratch, scratch.

Wow! I’m very surprised…thanks for posting.

How about Bevan?

Ontogeny - 93
EE Tench - 96
Wildfoote Vixen - 96
Harbison - 97
McGah - 95
Tin Box - 97
Sugarloaf - 96
Tench - 95+
Impetus - 93

Thanks…those look a little better!

Taste them bling and see how you like them.

Maybe but 100 from Parker and Galloni. I think though that one actually sold for $325 or so on release. The 2013 comes out soon.

Anyone know the AG scores for Carter and/or Schrader?

Yeah, do a test with a $575 bottle of wine. Taste them “bling” is about right.
