Couldn’t resist breaking into a bottle soon after I got my 2010 Gonons from Chambers. Opened with very high expectations, and this certainly lives up to them. It’s incredibly fragrant with a lovely scent of pepper, violets and red fruited flavours that keeps building and developing with air, and a sense of remarkable purity and finesse on the palate with more savoury and saline flavours emerging with air. The balance is impeccable with bright acids keeping it very precise and vibrant and fine grained tannins beneath the fresh fruit, and there’s remarkable persistence. Fantastic wine that I’m glad I went long on.
Thanks for the note, just received my cache of this yesterday… planning on opening a bottle the next time an appropriate meal comes along.
How would you compare this to previous vintages? I loved the 2010 VdP Iles de Fery…
Consider me jealous . . . .
How would you compare them to the 09?
Here is my recent note on the lovely 09:

Cheers!
Thanks for the TN. Sounds good.
Also found my 6-pack from Chambers delivered yesterday when I got home. One of the heaviest 6-pack box I’ve ever lifted, though.
Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh…
Judging by how fast CSW burned through their allocation of this… I think the word is out!
Salil, thanks for twisting my arm into ordering.

The Blancs are fantastic as well. Have you tried them?
It’s very different from the '09, leaner and not as dense and fruit-driven - there’s a lot more acid here, and a sense of transparency that the '09 didn’t have right on release. In terms of weight/structure it reminds me more of the '07.
Michael, no, haven’t tried the Blanc yet but will get around to it soon.
Thanks!
Looks like the 07 VV is coming out soon.
07 VV came out a while ago. Long gone from shops. I think 09 comes out this fall.
Nope, Chambers is getting the '07 VV in fall. (The Kermit bottles came out last year and were sold mostly on the west coast, but the Gonons apparently feel the wines need more time in bottle and Chambers will sell the '07 VV later in the year.)
I have a couple bottles each of the '06 VV and '07 VV, but the only question is when I might actually pop one. I feel like it would be infanticide to open one now, but maybe I should just keep one of each of them for future consumption – I feel like I want to get a sense of what they’re like. Salil, I’ve seen your notes on the '06, and it sounds great. You’ve gone through three of 'em?! Wow.
Ooh - 2 chances!
Xavier - I brought the 06 VV to a tasting and it was enjoyed by all - I’ll be holding my remaining bottles for a few years though as rhey will be even better down the road. Tasted the 07 VV and have decided to keep my hands off of them too. The regular bottling is easier to open at the “wrong” time.
Salil - Thanks for the heads up. I grabbed 6. I really loved the 07’s and am happy to hear this is closer to the 07 than 09. I like a bit of acidity! I’ll check one out next week because I won’t be able to wait either. Now I can buy some time for my remaining 09’s too.
Cheers!
OK, you are a young guy and hopefully have a very long life ahead of you.
When you go long…how many bottles are we talking about?
I opened up a 2007 VV a couple months ago and it wasn’t as exotic and elegant as the 2006 VV, but was obviously young and had just traveled across country. It should be stellar with time.
I opened an '07 last night and it was just ok with the acidity jutting out more than I remember.
