When Screaming Eagle first burst onto the scene, Robert Parker awarded it an astounding 99 points and declared it, ‘one of the greatest young Cabernets I have ever tasted.’
Two decades later, it continues to be the stuff of fine wine lore and, while the days when bottles could easily be picked up on a road trip through Napa Valley are long gone, the legend lives on. Since its inaugural vintage, this elegant Cabernet Sauvignon has managed to achieve three, 100 point ratings. Next year will see the release of the 2012 vintage, which is already hotly tipped to receive a perfect score as well. This would certainly be the proverbial ‘cherry on the cake’ for the estate’s 20th Anniversary bottling.
