lol
That is all.
Just finished looking at it.
Glad I got me a case of wine number uno last year at Costco.
I don’t have a subscription, but it doesn’t matter anyway…
They chose a wine everyone seems to love, but we never sell it, oh well.
The #1 was actually pretty good for $25. Already drained all of mine 3 months ago.
Congrats to them and KB.
It’s an interesting list - as it always is . . .
I would find it almost impossible to please everyone with a list like this - everyone has their personal favorites, and someone will end up with a bullseye on their backs for whatever they put on a ‘Top XX’ list . . .
This year’s list contained some board faves like Cayuse, KB, Saxum, Swan, and Carlisle . . .
That aaid, it does continue to blow me away how under represented the Central Coast is on this and most lists . . .
Sure, Saxum, Tablas Creek, and Four Vines made it on, but South of Paso, only 1 wine made it - a Tensley Syrah. No Melville, no Jaffurs . . . .
In a year when the list focused as much on ‘value’ as anything else, I simply don’t get it . . .
just my ramblings this morning . . .
Cheers!
05 Numanthia Termes? And 2006 was released last fall?
Doesn’t make a lot of sense…
Well then it must not have been anything from JJ Prum [at least not in our market].
How high did Prum get this year?
$25?? I thought it was $19.99. I actually enjoyed the 1 bottle I had too. Someone is trying to sell it on winecommune for $99 already haha.
Not sure about the Prum. I don’t subscribe to WS. But I’m sure others can fill us in.
Cheers,

I still have nine bottles…hmmmm…
Now I remember EXACTLY why I don’t read nor care for that magazine…
Not sure I’d ever line my bird cage with it, let alone actually pick up and read a copy…

It’s just too far of a drive to get down here for them…
I did use last month’s issue to start my coals last night, so it does have some use for us!

Don’t get too excited…last year’s #1 never sold in the auctions either, but it doesn’t stop people from offering it.

I honestly don’t even remember what last year’s wine was.

2005 Clos Apalta
This list must be taken with a grain of salt. Every year it must be viewed that way, but this year moreso than others. Consider this qualifier that accompanies the list:
Since 2009 was a year of economic retrenchment, we focused closely on value to choose our newest list from more than 17,000 wines.
Every year, WS eliminates from consideration most wines over the 100-125 price point so the list is traditionally value (i.e. wines under 125 that scored over 90 points). This year, there appears to have been “extra” focus on the values.

Is there also a requirement that Kosta Browne must appear in the list every year?
