WOW...hoax on Veuve: Champagne TABLETS

The pitch: just drop these in water and, poof fizz blop, instant Champagne.

The problem: They used VC trademarks to market it…

Thibault le Mailloux, Comite Champagne spokesperson, said the body ‘needs to protect the appellation from parasites who are using the strong Champagne image to add credit to their ideas.’

‘People will believe anything where Champagne is concerned,’ he said, in reference to the hoax. ‘The power of the appellation symbol makes people forget that Champagne is in fact a wine.’

Ummmm…whose fault is that?

Shampagne!

I read about these tablets last month; did this company actually think that VC would sick their team of lawyers on them? Anyone who markets wine with labels that resembles their color or trademark ends up in court.
