Some very nice wines so far. I’ve narrowed it down to these:

1994 Trollat St. Joseph
1994 Allemand Reynard Cornas
1970 Magdelaine
2014 Pepiere Clos des Briords Muscadet

2004 Saxum Bone Rock James Berry Vineyard
2008 Maybach

2001 Dönnhoff Oberhäuser Brücke Riesling Eiswein

Can you elaborate about the 73 Prum?

There have been a few contenders…

Best mature or maturing wines:
1921 Château Montrose, closely rivaled by the '55 and '47
2005 Coche-Dury Meursault Rougeots - best village Burgundy I’ve ever had
1994 Kalin Pinot Noir Cuvée Billon - best North American Pinot Noir I’ve ever tasted

Best unbottled wines:
Mugneret Gibourg’s 2015s
Tasting reserve wines from foudre with Olivier Collin

Honourable mention has to go to drinking a bottle of the 1988 Summa Pinot with Burt Williams, his penultimate bottle.

Unfortunately given how many wonderful wines there were that evening I took no notes. But its haunting beauty has stayed with me for the last 5 months.

Fortunately Adrian, Salil and Seth all posted notes in Cellartracker. And it looks like the only other note on it is also from that same bottle one day later.

A pretty spectacular list!

I remember a bottle of the 94 Reynard that you shared a few years back at Chelsea was outstanding. My lone bottle, opened a while after that, was corked. :frowning:

I had a couple bottles of the '90 Monchoff WS circa 2002 that were ethereal – one of my most memorable riesling experiences.

2004 Sea Smoke Southing Pinot Noir.

1995 Huet Le Mont Sec
1988 Biondi-Santi Riserva
2014 Enderle & Moll Grauburgunder
2011 Clos Rougeard Poyeux
2013 FX Pichler Steinertal Gruner Veltliner
2012 Champet Cote-Rotie
2001 Yquem
1996 Geantet-Pansiot Charmes Chambertin

Some of those wines are quite familiar to me!

Flight of the year: 1982 Pichon Lalande, 1982 Haut Brion, 1982 Cheval Blanc
In second place: 1959 & 1962 Jadot Clos des Ursules
Rhone of the year: 1985 Guigal La Turque
Magnum of the year: 1978 D’Angerville Volnay Clos des Ducs
In memory bottle: 1990 Henri Bonneau Cuvee Speciale
Other favs: 1990 La Conseillante, 1996 Chateau Margaux, 1999 Joseph Drouhin Musigny

OK, I fold, Paul.

That was a good night.

Red - 2013 Kelley Fox Maresh Vineyard Pinot Noir

White - tie between 2010 Arterberry Maresh Maresh Vineyard Chardonnay & 2010 Cameron Clos Eleqtrique Chardonnay

Tie at 96 points:

1995 Guigal La Turque
1995 Grahams VP

'62 Latour
'62 Climens
'66 Mouton (low shoulder and really light in colour but outstanding nose and acidity)
'66 Haut Brion
'83 Alfred Martin Echezeaux
'77 Patriarche Richbourg (truly amazing, particularly from such a poor vintage)

were all fantastic, but they were beaten head and neck by a NV champagne:

Veuve Grenier “Henecky’s Private Reserve” with the '45 as base vintage, made for a London wine merchant now long since closed down. Probably about 12-13 g dosage which kept it alive and fresh, with good bubbles and still palpable acidity.

Would never have guessed it would be so high on my list before I opened it!

I forgot about the 2014 Pepierre Clos de Briords Muscadet which Jay lists. If price has an even small role in picking a WOTY, this would be hard to beat.

Like.
