I enjoyed a 40 year old Taylor Port for the first three innings while my VP finished it’s decanting. Then came the 1983 Gould Campbell Vintage Port. Outstanding juice and in the good old days just $29 (and then went up to $39 : (
The Port was as solid as the Yankees win. Nice rebound Pettitte!
well Monday sucked: game 5 'nuff said - goodness i dislike Girardi and i don’t even live in NYC anymore, lost MNF for my fantasy squad on last PThomas TD catch - 123.54 to 122.15, g-friend pissed @ me for something i did, etc etc…
but this older bottle rocked…
cork densely stained thru bottom 1/8th " or so. color close to megapurple and both nose and taste so incredibly youthful and full of fresh, dark fruit. tannins nearly completely resolved and barely perceptible, there were not a lot of secondary characteristics but i wanted more when this was gone! this was more hedonistic than the 1994 Mayacamas and enjoyable on a very different level.
Game #6 winning wine was 1993 Ridge Maple Vineyard! like Jager in some repects, American Oak a bit too “there” on the nose for me but not like BV. some real heat on the finish but not remotely like a fortified wine. definitely memorable on a memorable night!
