I love your story. The gifting or trading of wine is one of the best experiences in the world of wine. I like popping bottles with the local wine shop employees and talking about the flavors and stuff
In my defense, David, I also have a polo teeshirt on underneath plus a Torrey Pines golf cap. Thatâs gotta count for something. Oh, and I grew up in Vero Beach. Doesnât get much preppier than that! We just donât need turtlenecks there.
Watch out for La Clotte though, purchased by the Vauthier family late during the 2014 growing season, the style has already stepped into line with the rest of the Vauthier portfolio.
It was about 7 years ago and it still makes me laugh just thinking about it. No photo. I was too busy scraping him up off the floor. He just leaned over, probably to pick up something, and just kept going.
I love the idea of simple âtradesâ. When done with clear differences in palate preferences, the door is opened to âwin-winâ trades and youâve both left the lockers happy.
Some months ago, I traded a bunch of 100 point Quilceda Creek I would never had opened for some aged VCC, Lynch Bages and GPL. Everyone was enthused.
And Robert, if you donât think it can get any preppier than Vero Beach, you need to spend a fall weekend at UVa, Wake Forest, or maybe Princeton. Vero Beach prep is just a lithograph of the authentic article found on the east coast.
Very true, Ian. We must both be happy as we have been texting each other a bit over our next trades. My post-2004 Chateauneufs will be gone! I may just hang on to my Gigondas.
Did they also match their polos with their socks? Nothing like walking around campus thinking you own the place, with ur frat bros, sporting pink polos, collars popped of course, with matching polo short socks. Amazing to think I got laid back then. One of my girlfriends like to match her Lili Pulitzers with me. I think Iâm gonna hurl now.
Love how life comes full circle, too. You should see how my 16 year old son dresses, basically exactly how I did at his age. He does not like Caymus, tho.
