WineSpies.com (Wine Spies) Deal Discussion thread

I think it’s the Beau Vigne 2021 Juliet.

It has 97 points at Wine Enthusiast and contains one of the review excerpts “Built for the long haul, needing time”

Weird, I’ve seen Beau Vigne on Wine Spies (and other discount sites too) for better deals than this, and certainly not approaching the original list price.

Yeah, I have not been impressed with Beau Vigne wines even at the discounted price. They literally discount ALL of their wines from time to time.

Costco had them for super cheap a year or so ago!

Thanks for sleuthing this one out, I almost pulled the trigger, but BV are def my least favorite JF wines.

This is super helpful and great to see some activity on the WS thread. They’ve become a pretty reliable source for me (the build a case really appeals to me). Agreed that $55 for juliet would be a bit salty. Don’t they typically discount that to $50 when they tell us the name?

Underground Cellar liquidation had a bunch of Juliet for something like $27/bottle. Not sure if it’s still up there or not. Buying a whole case is also required.

UC is out of the Juliet but has Romeo and other Beau Vigne wines. I was hoping that the classified wine might be their “Cult” wine which retails for $150 but it looks like it will be Juliet. One of the clues was WS sold the last 3 vintages. I checked their review page and sure enough they did sell 3 vintages of Juliet:'18 - '20. In checking the web, I found out that Beau Vigne has gone through ownership changes that resulted in their wines being sold cheaply. Someone even reported their ‘cult’ wine was at Costco for $27.

My guess on todays mystery Cab offer - Casa Piena Yountville Estate Cabernet .

Casa Piena is owned by Carmen Policy, former 49ers executive with 5 Super Bowl rings. The wine is also made by TRB.

And I’ll guess that I say it, go Niners! I’m a big Bills fan, so just can’t root for the Chiefs.

Or maybe their “our gang” cuvée would fit best. I couldn’t find specs though:

Ah ha! You might be right. Just hard to tell with the $125 stated market price since these are both allocated wines. The first one appears to be $150+, and can’t really tell on the Our Gang wine, but I guess that we should assume less than that.

But great sleuth! I missed that name.

Assuming thats correct do we think its a buy?

Vivino says the average price of Our Gang is $75. Wine Searcher says $125-150.

I still bought 2 bottles because I like a good mystery . :person_shrugging:t3:

The garagiste mysteries have been mostly good and great for me recently.

Can anyone find the specs for the Casa Piena? Matching up the ABV and aging is generally a good way to confirm what it may be.

I thought maybe Hestan, but has to be Casa Piena. I missed the Super Bowl/Niners reference at first.

Yeah, oak and aging are a little off for it to be Hestan.

Anyone familiar with this Kinsella wine? Made by TRB…CT scores are decent

Have not had it, but it certainly peaks my interest as I love second wines of expensive wineries, but I am forcing myself to pass due to too much wine already.

Me too…I have enough wine to float a battleship, but this offer is tempting…
