WineSpies.com (Wine Spies) Deal Discussion thread

Opened one a couple weeks ago. Really enjoyed it, and felt like a winner at the price.

Got myself 3 of them, looking forward to trying it

2014 Oracle as featured wine. Yai or Nai?

It’s a good wine and a great deal, but I was able to recently pickup the 2018 version of The Oracle via WineText for only 26.99/btl (with case purchase)…so not an amazing deal by comparison?

Good tip, where did you get it? 2018 is also a better year than 2014

Josh mentioned WineText in his reply, it’s a daily (or less often if you prefer) text service offering a wine deals. You can purchase singles on their daily deals, but the offerings towards the end of the year are by the case for their “White of the Year”, “Value of the Year”, etc., and in today’s case their “Wine of the Year”, 2021 Amulet Estate AE. The service is provided through Wine Library, a brick and mortar in Springfield, NJ. And no, I don’t I don’t work for or am affiliated in any way, just found them a couple years ago along my wine wine journey. I’ve purchased way more wine through Wine Spies, just in case they’re listening, lol.

2014 Oracle was a buy for me at that price

Have used them in the past yea. I got annoyed at them when they started using Luca M scores as marketing strategy.

For any of you guys who like me bought or considered buying the $250 Patland 2023 ‘Extended Maceration’ Stagecoach Vineyard Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon for $65, Wineslash currently has a wine called 2023 “Mystery” Stagecoach Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, Extended Maceration, Napa for $50. This looks to me to be the same Patland so I ended up buying a second bottle.

The bin ends sale starts tomorrow at 8.I’ve checked these out in previous years, but I don’t recall ever buying anything at it

Seems like if you didn’t buy it before, would you buy it for 5% off? But they gotta move their wine. Pseudo precious sell out wines. Could be some decent deals.

I imagine it will be a lot of wines they have already offered multiple times this year

Agreed, but if there’s Kelley Fox for 15% of $50, why not?

But if I bought it before and liked it, and they have some left at a discount?

I bought a couple bottles of 2010 Chateau Corbin from ws earlier in the year and just popped one - will definitely be in for more on something like that if it pops up.

The bin-end sale was supposed to start at 8am PST/11am EST, I got a pop-up notification on my phone, but the App is showing a server error……

Update: Seems to be working now……The wines on offer seem pretty mediocre

Yeah the 4 or 5 I was interested in are already sold out

Yeah, I’ve never had a Terte Rotreboeuf and it’s reasonable enough price (not reasonable in general) at a single bottle and hard enough to find that I picked it up to close out my case. I think that was a great win for me for the day.

I managed to take a quick peek between sets at the gym and I was going to bite on the Mt Brave 2014 Malbec and the Domaine de la Janasse when I got home to look up the promo code was and when I got back they were both gone. Oh well. Otherwise, agree not a lot of intrigue.

Kelley Fox 2022 Maresh Vineyard ‘GCS Blocks’ Pinot Noir available now for $39 (-10%).

I hadn’t found a Kelley Fox wine i didn’t like until I tried that. For Kelley Fox lovers, they should know this particular rendition follows her common thread but I think it’s so cranberry forward that buyer should beware it is a very particular style. The Mirabai off her website at $34 is way better. Then again, that same wine is $90 on her website, just to be aware.
