WineSpies.com (Wine Spies) Deal Discussion thread

I assume the $75 was the MSRP. No harm no foul. We do not value our purchases by the “perceived” discount. Rather, we look at what we are actually paying, regardless of what they say it’s supposed to cost.

The 2023 Lytton is cheaper than at WS everywhere I look :man_facepalming:t2:

The 2022 Dusty Nabor DNW-SRH Sta Rita Hills Pinot Noir in the store for $29 is a nice deal for a good wine. Had a bottle the other night and it was very good.

I had never bought from WS before but they sent me a link for 50 off 150. Used it to get 5 x 2022 Kelley Fox Maresh Golden Sparrow Blocks for $25 each, which seems like a super solid deal.

I’m also testing it out for the first time but to be fair, my tastes have weirdly recently changed to liking napa cabs. I also started with buying that Kelley Fox as my first purchase. Seems like there are some unique deals to be had but also some weird pricing on some other products, just like any other shop. The free shipping and storage until 1 case makes it a good value proposition right now.

The lockers plus free case shipping make it worthwhile to monitor, IMHO. Just be prepared to go long stretches without ordering anything and just wait for the deals you want.

defiantly some great deals on napa cabs. do your research. As some said above, look at the actual price you are paying not the discount when making your QPR assessment.

I filled my first cases within a month, but now it takes me 2 or 3 months to fill a case typically

That’s my experience. I have amassed a total of one case ever, but they recently dropped a $30 credit in my account, so I couldn’t not buy a couple of Alsatian rieslings…and now I guess I have a year to climb that hill to 12 bottles once again.

My one issue with WS is their shipping. I live in TN and they have messed up my shipping on the 4 lockers I bought from them over the past 2 years. This year their TN truck charged too much so they stoped shipping temp controlled to me. Only ground. One time they just held my shipment because they actually didn’t have a couple of bottles that they sold to me and I didn’t find that out until I reached out 3 weeks later and had to work that out.
The other 2 lockers just took a month to get here with no updates. They don’t have anyone that works the phones either.

I have since deleted the app but I’ll probably get swooped back in at some point if they send me some credits unfortunately.

This Anitx looks sexy (TRB), but absolutely no info available out there except the WS write-up. Anyone biting?

Not I. TRB has his name on so many projects at this point that it’s hard to imagine he’s paying close attention to one of these whose name nobody has ever heard of and for which there is little info and no reviews out there for.

Ha…i thought the same here. I bought one just as a curiosity since that vineyard has good repute from the same vintage, from a different “producer” but TRB is credited as the winemaker. Hard to imagine they are wildly different. Maybe was a risk I shouldn’t have taken. Honestly, the spectrum of “napa cab” is kind of silly. If I can drink a lot 25 CamX for <$20, it’s gonna be hard to justify buying a $100 bottle that is 2x as good (maybe). The best Napa cab that sort of blew me away in a surprise was Pezzato.

Please explain how a $30 credit prevents the purchase of rieslings? I am confused. As usual.
