Fall is coming on way too quickly, but a couple of good bottles will always soothe any nostalgia for the summer that wasn’t.
2005 Rene Rostaing Condrieu La Bonnette - Honey, hazlenut and peach on the nose with a nice tang of limestone cliffs. Quite angular on the palate with lots of lychee nut and sharp minerality. Some more time will do this good.
2005 Saxum Heart Stone Vineyard - Pomegranate, white pepper and limestone on the nose. Still a little closed and reticent. Big rich mocha and blackberry fruit on a very smoothly textured palate. Doesn’t blatantly show the high alcohol, but the quick buzz definitely shows up.
