Wines for a Saturday

Our usual tasting group got together at Dave S’s abode and this was the lineup:

2008 Clos Haberl MontLouis Sur Loire - Chenin Blanc
2019 Saxum James Berry White
1985 Heitz - Cabernet
2009 Paolo Scavino Bric Del Fiasc
1995 Gruaud Larose

We paired this with an assortment of cheeses, leg of lamb and an amazing chocolate almond cake.

The wines were superb. The Saxum and Chenin needed some air to open up as did the Scavino. Both the Heitz and Larose were stellar with the Heitz as the standout.

The Scavino needed about 45 minutes to open up and this wine showed that it has longevity ahead of it.

The Saxum was stellar.
