Wowsa is right. It’s definitely something I would try at that price if I lived nearby. But the the shipping cost doubles the price for me even if I bought a full case.

Seriously that shipping is out of control, the best price that I saw the Merlot is $16.00 at my local Costco

Our Havens Syrah arrived to the warehouse yesterday…cannot wait to pop one.

Can someone point me to a tasting note or let me know what their impressions are? Have had the Black & Blue but not their Merlot and $10ish a bottle when shipping to New York doesn’t seem crazy.

any left coasters want this wine i can likely get some considerably less expensive than the K&L price. case purchases only.

Please do post. I like syrahs from the Hudson vineyard, so I have been tempted. But the Havens Hudson has been going for around $18, which makes me reluctant to buy without some recommendations.

I’ve tried most of the '06s. At $10 I thought they were a decent drink. No way they were worth original retail. They all seemed a bit lean & hard.

Thanks for the note Mike. Good to know. It seems like it would make more sense to pick up a bottle or two locally if I happen to see it rather then shipping from CA to NY. Shipping is reallyonly worth it for at least a case. Which I don’t need!

There are a few notes on CT now under Hudson T Block Syrah. One of them is mine, and another user backed up my thoughts soon after.

Basically, it’s a great deal for that price. Lots going on, really well-made. There are some complaints they’re too old world, but I think the wines are simply not in your face bombs like people expect from Cali or Napa. I don’t think they fit neatly into any classification, though they have a cool climate quality.

Guess that’s what happens when 7500 cases hit the market in a firesale. I am a big havens fan and will miss them. Whether you like their leaner, old world style or not, they made interesting wines and most of napa can’t say that.
