“Mas Donis Barrica is a custom cuvee made for importer Eric Solomon using old-vine Garnacha (80+ years) and Syrah (30+ years). The 2005 Mas Donis Barrica is 85 % Garnacha and 15% Syrah aged for 8 months in French and American oak before bottling without fining or filtration. It offers up an expressive nose of slate, mineral, licorice, violets, black cherry, and blueberry. Layered, long, and complex, this spicy, hedonistic effort has 2-3 years of aging potential but can be enjoyed now without guilt. It is a great value.” --JM

JSM “2-3 year aging potential” = 6 month lifespan? [scratch.gif] neener

Sierra Carche II?

I have not drunk the 2005, but the 2004 was a very nice wine for the price. Lively, bright red fruit aromas and flavors. Medium body. Well balanced. Food-friendly. The 2004 was not at all tired a year ago (when I finished my last), so if the 2005 is on the same trajectory it is probably fine. I would pick some up at this price if they were local.

2007 is just hitting the market, according to my sales rep.

I expect it to be this cheap in a year. Spain is drying up like Australia.

Jay Miller spreading his seed.

I am still drinking the 01 and it is going strong.

Did Jay get the boot from writing for Parker or was that just a rumor? [scratch.gif]

I’ve had a couple of years of this one - 03 and 04 (??) - definetly a solid under $10 wine.

Pretty sure these have plastic corks, so may not be the best one to age.

Just Australia. So he could concentrate on 2007 Port.
