Someone from the winery was in the other day and said they’d be back with a discount offer. If anyone wants it, let me know and by PM and I’ll check it out. Otherwise I’m not a buyer
Assuming Posner is right, and I trust that he probably will be, at what point does this become a deal? $100? $90? $80? I’ve only had a few older pre-2000 vintages, and I liked them both.
After this thread started I contacted the winery to see what the big exciting discount was and I mentioned it is listed on WS for wholesale. He said the stores that are selling it for .99 over cost will not get anymore if they don’t sell it for a minimum of $130 and the winery is in the process of contacting those accounts. I asked how they were going to control SWS, they are the ones that distribute the Insignia . No answer of course.
The discount is a joke for the amount of wine they have and of course it is still selling for .99 over cost all over.
Has anyone tasted this wine yet? Is it fairly in the ballpark of a 95+ point wine? Have not had it yet, but at about 16,000 cases, hard to imagine a $200 release price? Sounds like it will be a $100 to $120 wine for some time . . .
WHWC is now selling this for $129, $10 more than this Wine House deal. As usual though, Dan is right, I never thought I’d see Insingia start to get discounted…now it’s starting.
I won’t be buying, but if the Backus ever goes on sale…that’s another story…I LOVE that wine…
Not unless it has an SQN in the title then there’s a waiting line. There will be many more discounts, too much wine and the next vintage is right around the corner, current vintages have to be moved out.
I actually had someone call yesterday and wanted Insignia, didn’t even ask the price. You just never know!
Daniel,
amazingly, I can’t keep much SQN, no dust on those bottles. Doesn’t matter which one, except maybe the Rose.
Being here in the valley and dealing direct with many of the wineries, it is mind boggling to see every time the door swings open, “have we got a deal for you” . Sometimes it’s good and others it is not.
Daniel,
In addition, we haven’t been buying much of the discounted wines from any region, we don’t seem to have the customers looking them, more of the unique types of wines that are impossible to get. Now, let me say as you & I have hashed over before if they want anything from down under, that’s an entirely different story.
