Winehunter - "06 Burgundy Blowouts" (Winex)

Just received an email with Winex stating:

"We knew the time would come. It had to happen. No doubt about it. The 2006 Burgundies were eventually going to end up on closeout lists from many purveyors, it was just a matter of when. The vintage, a very good one, followed the legendary 2005’s, at similar prices that didn’t do folks any favors. We loved the wines…fruit driven, ripe, substanitial. We just weren’t buying at the prices they were selling for. In fact we told a few of the purveyors back when we tasted the wines a year or so ago, “call us when you close these out.” For some, that time is now. "

Well, they just KNEW the time would come. LOL. I guess they didn’t have any problem selling at the previous prices when they did, but they KNEW it would come.

Anyway, might these prices be at all interesting?
OLIVIER JOUAN 2006 LES RUCHOTS MOREY ST DENIS 1ER CRU RETAIL $60!
add to cart $29.99 add a case $359.88

Olivier Jouan is the sixth generation of Jouans to farm the family’s 19 acres located in some prime zip codes along the Cote de Nuits. We’ve ardently supported his wines since the debut 1999 vintage, and have seen him turn into a bit of an under-the-radar star. The vines in his tiny plot of premier cru Les Ruchots average 40 years of age, and Olivier’s wine from this parcel has fabulous color along with the cool, rip… read more

DELAGRANGE 2006 VOLNAY VIEILLES VIGNES RETAIL $50!
add to cart $24.99 add a case $299.88

Old Vines Volnay at a young vine Bourgogne price? Count us in! The vines for Delagrange’s are in fact 50+ years of age, and Didier Delagrange is pretty hands off both in the vineyard and the cellar. Fine by us. His wine is both fruity ands sturdy in style, our sample showing even better the next day. Nice little mineral underpinning here and an intensity (without excessive weight) that screams, "OLD VINES!&… read more

are these the only two on sale or do they have others? (not on the winex mailing list). (thanks for the info todd!)

My first Burgs were from Winex during their closeouts for 2003 burgs! Great prices!

Reminds me of an email I got recently from a German retailer, proudly stating “2006 Bordeaux at futures prices!” - right in the middle of the 2008 futures campaign, sure helped everybody get enthusiastic about the current futures, very smart move!

Never heard of the 2 producers mentioned.

I have had and liked some Jouan wines. However I paid $30-$35 for his 05 Premier Cru wines (early in the 05 game, admittedly) so that’s not a jaw dropping price as his Mored wines were never $60 wines as suggested.

If they have any of Daniel Rion '06 VR Beaux Monts 1er Cru, Echx or Clos Vougeot at good prices, I vouch for them. Good stuff.
