I took the dive because, new to Oregon PN, I wanted to track down and experience some with ten, fifteen, or twenty+ years post-vintage, at a reasonable price. It’s been quite rewarding.

Depends what you’re looking for, I guess. One of the main things WineBid has going for it, for me, is that it is the only place that reliably buys and sells sub $100 bottles in meaningful quantity.

Winebid gets some really interesting, obscure bottles. So if you understand region and vintage, you can find some cheap gems, especially from small AVAs.

Agreed. And I’ve found some wonky stuff in one-offs or a couple of bottles, which makes me think some folks are selling “samples”, gifts from vintners or leftovers from tasting dinners or trade shows. I guess I pick WineBid for bargains and unusual wines (per above) like two bottles of champagne that no one has in the US. Love K&L for the classics. And easy pickup for me (in the Bay Area). So glad they got a NY outlet.

I also find deals in the “mature good drinkers that aren’t trophies” category. Bordeaux, California, Italy, Australia, elsewhere.
Sometimes a 20 year old Napa cab from a producer who isn’t one of the cool kids but was making cab in an ageworthy style, for example.

I’m addicted (and love) Winebid as a buyer, but as a seller, I’m super disappointed with the 2026 changes. 
Is that just the increase in minimum fee or did I miss something else?
They have outlawed wines with residual sugar.

Mostly, and the new commission structure. I don’t want to rehash, it’s all upthread near the beginning of the year. (Edit: Must be on a different Winebid post.)
Basically.
I used to buy primarily from Winebid for auction purchases, but the last two years have bought mostly from K&L. Had too many bad bottles from Winebid with no notes to indicate otherwise. I do think Winebid probably has the most variety for me. I pop over to Spectrum Wine Auctions as well every so often - they have the worst interface but I have gotten extremely lucky over there when I have purchased. I’m about 80% K&L, 10% WB and 10% Spectrum at this point.

Seriously, Spectrum needs to join the 21st century. They’d have far more success if they updated to something even remotely modern. Don’t visit very often because I don’t have the personal bandwidth to navigate that ancient interface (and I’m not young). Even KL’s old interface was less annoying (which is saying something).

I’ve had really good luck for recent Burg vintages. Even with the premium, I’ve found wines at solid pricing. Trapet Chambertin occasionally shows up at good value. I never bought but the JJ Confuron RSV was a really solid deal around the end of the year too
Winebid is pretty awesome for aged Oregon/Washington also. You can get aged stuff for less (often way less) than current release prices.

They actually have an app, which is at least less cumbersome.
agree on Spectrum. gave up totally on them. who is sending their wine to those guys with such a horrible interface?
